Experiment 1 - Preparation and properties of some Cr(III) complexes

Cr(III) complexes
Preparation of some chromium(III) complexes, either:
  1. [Cr(en)3]Cl3 and K[CrEDTA(H2O)]
  2. [Cr(urea)6]Cl3 and K3[Cr(NCS)6] or
  3. cis-[Cr(en)2Cl2]Cl.1.5 H2O and cis-K[Cr(ox)2(H2O)2].2H2O
The on-line display showing the use of Tanabe-Sugano diagrams requires MDL CHIME 2.6 SP4 and IE 6 or Netscape 7 as well as the Sun JAVA JDK/JRE 1.4 or above
Note as well that the display was set for a minimum resolution of 1024*768.

For the Java Run-time environment see the SUN JAVA site
The next page will display several frames:
If you are all set then continue

The complexes displayed above are:
  1. K3[Cr(ox)3]
  2. [Cr(urea)6]Cl3
  3. [Cr(en)3]Cl3
  4. [Cr(oxine)3
  5. Chromium glycinate
  6. cis-[Cr(en)2Cl2]Cl.1.5 H2O
  7. Cr(acac)3
  8. K[CrEDTA(H2O)]
  9. K3[Cr(NCS)6]
  10. trans-K[Cr(ox)2(H2O)2].2H2O
  11. cis-K[Cr(ox)2(H2O)2].2H2O
